Actions

memo keeps three layers in sync: your files on disk, a database that stores metadata entities (labels, custom metadata, collections, and later contacts, etc.), and an index that indexes both files and database entities for search and filtering.

  • Reindex Everything
Re-scans the file system and rebuilds both the database and the index from scratch. Use this if something appears broken or out of sync.
  • Reindex Files
Like Reindex Everything, but limited to files: re-scans the file system and rebuilds the index for files, without touching the database.
  • Clean up file metadata
Removes database entries (metadata, labels, etc.) for files that no longer exist on disk, e.g. because they were deleted or moved outside of memo.
  • Reindex Database
Rebuilds the index from the current database contents (metadata entities, collections, etc.), without re-scanning the file system.
  • Delete Index
Deletes only the index — files and the database (metadata, collections, etc.) are untouched. Functionally similar to Reindex Everything, but without rebuilding the index; memo rebuilds it automatically on next start. Largely a legacy action at this point, but still available.
